(And by that I mean that I've done all my drama exams - if the results are terrible then I will have to re-sit this year.)
My late-night nerves weren't really that much of a deal, looking back on it. Although I'd got myself into such a state that I begun looking-up performing arts collage courses at 1am! It actually looks pretty interesting - there's a script-writing section which I really love the idea of!
When I did wake-up this morning, I couldn't control my nerves. I just wanted to not come in for the day and just cry about it. But I realized that crying wouldn't exactly get me anywhere, and not coming in wouldn't have helped either. So I managed to calm myself down on the way to collage.
It was pretty cool that in my Psychology we learnt about stress management and did a muscle technique - conveniently before my exam. The exercise involved tensing your muscles and releasing them, so you're aware when you're tense from the stress, so you can release the tension. You start from the head and work down to the toes. It was funny watching the class pull faces and sticking their chest out, aha, and when our teacher told us to "tense our butt cheeks".
I even managed to convince two of my friends to try out the exercise at lunch time and even if it wasn't the best at de-stressing for that moment, them looking like twats while they did the exercise got them to laugh - so I guess it did work in that sense?
Our lesson rehearsal was so much better than last night's because our transitions had been smoothed and we all just had more energy and determination to do the best we could. At the same time it was much more relaxed, much like the day we performed a prior play. There wasn't any pressure to keep rehearsing, we ran it though a couple times and then just ate and chatted.
It was nice seeing parents come and support us - my dad came along to see it. I didn't tell him much about the play (a.k.a. all the 'references', aha) because I knew what he'd say about it. We're not really big talkers about 'the facts of life'.
Either way, our performance and all the others were great - actually lovely. And at the end of it all I recieved a 'well done' from my dad and a chipshop chicken and chips.
:)
